Well it has happened, the one thing that so many of us ask for – a little more time. In fact, we have a whole extra day.
Leap years are needed to keep our calendars in alignment with the Earth’s revolutions around the sun. It takes the Earth approximately 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds to circle once around the sun. If we didn’t add a day on February 29 nearly every 4 years we would lose almost 6 hours off our calendar every year.
What a great reminder to keep our own lives in alignment and use this ‘magic’ day to bring ourselves back into balance. If we keep travelling down our current path where will we be in another 4 years? Will we be in alignment with our inner values and our core beliefs or will we be going through life as if ‘it is just another day’.
Perhaps this leap year could be a leap of faith and discover what is closest to our hearts.
